Loving folks raising money for Relay!

Last night Mark played poker in a fundraiser for our Relay,
and I went along for the 'ride'.
It was held in a local business (we have such wonderful folks in our community!) and
part of the fun was checking out all the amazing vehicles.

This remodeled bus was amazing!
He uses it for tailgating.
You should see the inside.

They raised around $1,400.

Jamie did a fantastic job!!!

Angie cleaned up. For a while.
She hung in there for quite a while, and had fun as well.
Steve didn't do too badly himself!

Key and Steve, in the center, are our Survivors.
They are my heroes.

For Dad

Hey Dad, I went to a poker fundraiser last night
and ran into one of your old friends......

Pirates!!!

Last Saturday our Relay took part in the Hillsboro St. Pat's Day parade.
These wonderful veterans came over to see our pirate ship and get a couple of cookies.
We were proud to have them take their picture with our ship and little 'green pirate o'relay'.

Mark was ready to go.

This fine officer was open to posing with our little 'Irish' pirate.

So was this dance class.

My friend Amber decorated her little car (named Doug) as a puppy
to promote Bark For Life.

Our pirate ship won the Most Irish float.
We were SO proud!
We truly enjoy this parade and all the wonderful folks who take part.

Randy built the ship (great job!) and Pat is the driving force behind our Relay folks taking part in this parade. We are so lucky to have the Relay family we do.

We believe in starting our youth in living the pirate life early!

Steve, my co-chair and a Surivor, and his niece proudly pose.
Steve is rocking the green hair!

Green Pirate O'Relay really gets around!

See? He knows everyone!

The pirates were enjoying getting out and about.
The weather turned warm and we loved it.

Roller derby: we need to go and root them on to victory!

Every good pirate has their faithful parrot.

Parade is about to start.

Mark is ready to start.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of this fine fellow.

One of my favorite Relayers!

Our Survivors.
So proud to Relay for them.

Knit For Newborns

Last Sunday after Mark and my adventures in the morning, I took myself to Beaverton Library to be a part of the 'Knit For Newborns' group.  I did this for Hands On Greater Portland (they needed pictures for their Flickr account), and for me because I like to crochet and this seemed like a good fit.

They meet once a month and donate their lovely creations.
It was a great group of folks, and I can tell they enjoy hanging out and creating gifts for others.

Here's my start on a blanket: looking forward to turning it in next month.
Heck yeah I'm going back!

Dream on

Yesterday the good folks at Hands On Greater Portland took me out for lunch to celebrate my time spent with them.  December 31st is my last official day (but I will continue to volunteer), and I have so enjoyed my experience there. How many people get the chance to work for a non-profit and see the inner workings?  I 'm one of the luckiest folks you'll ever meet.

One of my gifts was a box of dream cards.

There are 30 cards in the box, and you open one when you need some encouragement.
Or you share one with someone who could use a lift.
(I have someone in mind already who is going to receive one).

I decided to open one and here it is.
I'm following my dream.
I feel as if I am where I am suppose to be at this time and place in my life.
It's scary and exciting all at the same time.
It ain't going to be easy, but I'm growing every day.
So lead on dreams: I'm in it for the win!
